GRE考试分为：GRE General Test 和 GRE Subject Tests。多数研究生院不要求GRE专业考试，因此一般只需GRE普通考试。

GRE考试一共包括三个科目：Verbal Reasoning(语言推理)、Quantitative Reasoning(数量推理)、Analytical Writing(分析性写作)。

据 ETS公布的全球GRE平均分：Verbal Reasoning科目全球平均149.97，Quantitative Reasoning科目全球平均152.57，Analytical Writing科目全球平均3.48。
